Chemical Recycling Europe Forum 2025 Concludes with Great Success

 

Brussels, Belgium – September 2025 – The Chemical Recycling Europe Forum 2025 concluded successfully this week, bringing together over 100 participants representing industry leaders, experts, and stakeholders for a dynamic and insightful journey into the achievement and the future of chemical recycling.

The Forum offered an in-depth exploration of key topics shaping the chemical recycling sector, including technologies, mass balance calculations, feedstock availability, market updates, and numerous success stories. Attendees engaged in lively discussions, shared innovative solutions, and gained practical insights into advancing circular economy practices across Europe.

“This was the right moment to have the Chemical Recycling Europe Annual Forum,” said Valentijn de Neve, CRE President. “We agree on more than we disagree across the value chain. We all need the clarity, and we are headed in the right direction. With mass balance, let’s focus on strengthening the European plastic recycling industry together.”

Highlights of the Forum included:

  • Market Updates: Insightful analyses of current trends, opportunities, and challenges in chemical recycling from ICIS with Egor Dementev
  • Success Stories: Case studies demonstrating the practical implementation of circular economy solutions from ARCUS Greencycling Technologies, Plastic Energy and 2G Chemical Plastic Recycling.
  • Mass Balance: Dedicated talks exploring the methodologies laid down in the draft European legislation, the need for standards and the challenges of calculation points. Expert contributions from Prof. Dr.-Ing. Steven de Meester and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Matthias Franke brought clarity to one of the industry’s most pressing technical discussions.
  • Feedstock Developments: Updates on feedstock sourcing, quality, and innovation in chemical recycling and the potential role of the Extended Producer Responsability..

The Chemical Recycling Europe Forum 2025  highlighted the need to connect the ecosystem and  the importance of collaboration between industry, policymakers, and other stakeholders to achieve a more sustainable and circular plastics economy.
